True religion

Embracing diversity
Why are there so many different denominations and religions? The answer is found in the search for wisdom she is the lover of God and the teacher of humanity.

For Christianity the early fragmentation of the Roman Catholic Church in Europe and Asia was first initiated by the Orthodox Church in 30 A.D. These two churches where the only major denominations recognized by large groups of people even though there where theological arguments within each denomination for many years. It took 1496 years for there to be another major schism from the Roman Catholic Church. In 1517 Catholicism fractured again this time under the teaching of Martin Luther who was a German Roman Catholic Augustinian monk. Luther’s 95 theses was a protests against the corruption emanating from Rome. Soon after the Lutheran church experienced the same schisms within the confines of its faith and we can see some of the major denominational fractures that followed within Protestantism by the multitude of the protestant denominations and churches in the world today. The many subsequent schisms and fractures from Catholicism within Protestantism following in its breakaway from the Roman Catholic Church are seen in the vast multiplicity of denominations.

The first recognized religious organization to splinter from within Protestantism in the New World was the Church of the Latter Day Saints in 1830. Following that time in the late 1800’s up to the early 1900’s in the U.S. and around the world Protestantism continued to fracture. With this fracturing the formation of new world protestant denominations began to increase rapidly. Pentecostalism the most prevalent denomination in the world today did not follow for another seventy years after the formation of the Church of the Latter day Saints. After this time there where many other fractures within the Protestant denominations and even though Pentecostalism is the largest and fastest growing denomination in the modern era it is a relative latecomer on the scene as far as being a recognized religious denomination. January,1 1900 is often regarded as the founding date of the Pentecostal movement. Pentecostalism became more and more accepted during the late 1950’s and early 1960’s and is now considered a mainstream Protestant denomination by many in the Christian faith.

The departures from the undiluted truth of the apostolic teachings began early and in earnest with Rome beginning with the Nicaean counsel at the behest of Constantine the emperor of Rome in 324 AD. Although this schism between the true and original faith had been growing over time this schism soon found firm political footing under Constantine and was justified by his power as the emperor of Rome. His church remained the principle power and belief in the empire and even as the politic of Rome crumbled the doctrine of Rome created by Constantine remained for over a millennium until the schism created by Luther and the invention of the printing press caused a chasm so large that Protestantism or Lutheranism became a socially and legally recognized belief.

King Henry the eighth caused a split from Catholicism during his reign as the king of England and in 1525 he became the head of the Church of England in exactly the same way that Constantine had become the head of the Catholic Church of Rome. Both the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church where created by the proclamation of the ruling power. King Henry did this for the simple reason that he wanted a divorce from one of his wives and since the Pope wouldn’t grant Henry’s request he created his own church of which he became the head. The Church of England and thus Protestantism found its champion. King Henry mercilessly persecuted those that would not abdicate their allegiance to Rome. The Bishop of England was given the choice of becoming the Archbishop of the church of England with King Henry as head of the church or have his head cut off. Let’s say he kept his head and was royally rewarded for doing so.

With this schism the fracture of the truth that started with Constantine began to splinter into even more denominations. Catholics in England became as persecuted under King Henry as the Protestants did in the rest of Europe by the papacy. The lose of freedom that was caused by both sides in this struggle is what caused first the dark ages and then one of the bloodiest civil wars in England. Millions of people where caught up in these relgio-politcal shifts. This consolidation or ecumenism on both sides effectively destroyed freedom from any departure from the powers that be. The truth became even more convoluted and diluted as this splintering continued through time.

As this fragmentation began to become more widespread the truth became even more diluted through the ominous teachings and interpretations of men some of whom had very little education in any matter let alone the Greek and Hebrew writings of the scriptures. Most of the denominations that are seen in today’s society around the world are the trees of the roots that have taken hold and grown strong through the traditions handed down from generation to generation from parent to child with the same misunderstanding and ignorance of their founders and all the while with little inclination to discover the roots of their so dearly held beliefs.

This is the ignorance that God speaks of when He says that men die for the lack of knowledge. There is little concern for the truth among the denominations due to the apathetic and anemic hunger for the truth. There is a general malaise among the members of the congregations and instead of seeking the truth many would rather agree to disagree and move forward in ignorance because it is seemingly to difficult to strike off from the this familiar path.

The modern ecumenical movement of this generation is a topic that requires serious thought and consideration in light of the history of such efforts imposed on those willing to accept such pacification by the marching force of such policies and that is a discussion to long to include in this short article. However it is important to note that power is a numbers game it matters not what the ideas are or who the people may be people. The most powerful unifying force is ecumenism. It is and will always be the most powerful unifying force for any generation or faith or politic. The singularity caused by ecumenism does not care what the belief, idea, faith, politic, currency, country or people it occupies. It only cares for the singularity of such in order to gain the support of the masses for its own purposes.

America occupies the same ideological ground that made Rome great and it is in the same danger that Rome faced in its ideology in its transfer from a republic to totalitarianism. The independence and freedom gained from the ideological ground plowed by the founders of America are being overtaken by the same power that overtook the great civilization that was Rome. It is attempting to control new masses with the same message that caused the failure of all great civilizations and now America is in the cross hairs of this power. Generations of Americans will see the failure of Rome in America under the ecumenical moment that inspires the embracing of diversification. Most will be pacified by their own seemingly good reason. But the standard for truth is truth and the measurement of any mortal reason must stand the test of this measurement. I do not tell you or ask you to march to any beat but your own, but be aware of the fact that the beat that you choose to march by may be a drumming you can not distinguish from your own as many may be beating to the same beat and thinking that they are marching to their own drum for the rhythm of one drum may match the rhythm of the masses making the sound of your drum indistinguishable from the sound of another.

History is the teacher and it is there for those who have an appetite to undertake it. It is as it has always been the blind leading the blind. The truth for far to many is a journey to difficult to undertake so these many follow the leader regardless of where they are being lead for it is far easier to follow than it is to blaze the trail of truth. The ignorant follow the ignorant and let it be so for that is the way of men and women for it is the path of least resistance. Ignorance is the path most trod and the way is well worn. Its trail is easy to follow because it is has been traveled by so many.

My hope and my prayer is that you draw your own conclusions for you will be asked why you stand by them in whatever or wherever you find yourself. I hope you have the answers that will set you free from the bonds of fear. For if you are fearful then you have not succeeded in finding the reality that is the truth. As a great man once stated “Once in a while you will stumble upon the truth but most of us manage to pick ourselves up and hurry along as if nothing had happened.”

Great sayings by a great man.

John Petrie’s Collection of

Winston Churchill Quotes

Bulldog goes here.
Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill (1874-1965)

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

There is no such thing as a good tax.

Some see private enterprise as a predatory target to be shot, others as a cow to be milked, but few are those who see it as a sturdy horse pulling the wagon.

The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.

We contend that for a nation to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.

An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile—hoping it will eat him last.

The problems of victory are more agreeable than the problems of defeat, but they are no less difficult.

From now on, ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I shall not put.

A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject.

Bessie Braddock: “Sir, you are drunk.”
Churchill: “Madam, you are ugly. In the morning, I shall be sober.”

Nancy Astor: “Sir, if you were my husband, I would give you poison.”
Churchill: “If I were your husband I would take it.”

A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.

Once in a while you will stumble upon the truth but most of us manage to pick ourselves up and hurry along as if nothing had happened.

If you are going to go through hell, keep going.

You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.

If you have ten thousand regulations, you destroy all respect for the law.

The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.

I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the ordeal of meeting me is another matter. The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.

A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.

To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.

Solitary trees, if they grow at all, grow strong.

Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.

The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.

It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried.

Everyone has his day and some days last longer than others.

The whole history of the world is summed up in the fact that, when nations are strong, they are not always just, and when they wish to be just, they are no longer strong.

If Hitler invaded hell I would make at least a favorable reference to the devil in the House of Commons.

Courage is the first of human qualities because it is the quality that guarantees all the others.

The problems of victory are more agreeable than those of defeat, but they are no less difficult.

Voodoo economics of healthcare: For those who remember life before insanity

Voodoo economics of healthcare: For those who remember life before insanity: Hear the music I'm in a mood Everywhere is freaks and hairies Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity Tax the rich, feed the poor ...

For those who remember life before insanity

Hear the music
I'm in a mood
Everywhere is freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity
Tax the rich, feed the poor
Till there are no rich no more

Id love to change the world
But I dont know what to do
So Ill leave it up to you

Population keeps on breeding
Nation bleeding, still more feeding economy
Life is funny, skies are sunny
Bees make honey, who needs money, monopoly

Id love to change the world
But I dont know what to do
So Ill leave it up to you

World pollution, theres no solution
Institution, electrocution
Just black and white, rich or poor
Them and us, stop the war

Id love to change the world
But I dont know what to do
So Ill leave it up to you

The most prevalent form of Christianity in the world today is Pentecostalism and its founder was Charles Parham and he founded this belief in 1900 in California. The Pentecostal family of denominations forms one of the largest branches of conservative Protestantism within Christianity. A major defining feature of Pentecostalism is their belief in Glossolalia -- the ability to speak "in tongues". And is the unusual freedom and spontaneity exhibited during their religious services and many other mainline denominations have appropriated this glossolalia practice or belief into their own congregations. Pentecostalism is a relatively modern branch of Christianity. It grew out of the Holiness movement, which in turn had roots in Methodism. Robert Longman Jr. has listed a number of mid to late 19th century writings from within the Holiness movement which laid the foundations for Pentecostalism:

During the last two decades of the 19th century, there were reports of xenoglossia breaking out at revival meetings, particularly in North and South Carolina. Xenoglossia is the speaking of a foreign language by a person who normally has no familiarity with it. For example, an American with no ability to speak any language other than English suddenly became capable of speaking fluent German. There may also have been some instances of glossolalia (ecstatic speech that is meaningless to the typical listener).
The year 1899 saw a great rise in religious fervor as people speculated about the second coming of Jesus and the end of history as they knew it during the year 1900. Many books were written about the power of the Holy Spirit. Charles F. Parham, a Holiness preacher and head of the Bethel Bible College in Topeka, Kansas conducted a revival meeting in that city. Agnes Ozman, a Methodist, shocked the meeting by reportedly speaking fluently in a number of foreign languages that she had never previously learned. This happened on 1900-JAN-1. This event is often regarded as the founding of the Pentecostal movement. Some days later, many other individuals also spoke in tongues. Then Parham did as well.

One of Parham's students, an African-American named William Seymour started a home church in Los Angeles CA which was attended by members of the two Baptist churches and one Holiness church in that city. On 1906-APR-9, Seymour's landlord, Edward Lee, and closest co-worker, Jennie E. Moore broke out in tongues. Attendance increased precipitously. This made it necessary to find new quarters in which to hold their meetings. They rented an empty warehouse on Azusa Street in Los Angeles and founded the Apostolic Faith Mission.

The movement spread to other cities in California, and into the Northwestern and Southeastern sections of the US. Many churches were organized - particularly among immigrants. Some Holiness churches switched to Pentecostalism. The movement subsequently spread across North America, and has now blanketed much of the world.

Until 1914, the movement worked primarily within the Holiness churches. But increasing friction motivated the Pentecostals to form their first denomination, the Church of God in Christ. Although the movement was racially integrated in its early years, racial divisions soon developed. Many white clergy could not handle the presence of both blacks and whites in the congregation; the clergy subsequently left to form the Assemblies of God where blacks could be excluded.

In reference to the above chart it can be noted that the fragmentation of the Roman Catholic Church in Europe and Asia was first initiated by the Orthodox Church and it was the only other major denomination recognized by a large groups of people other than the Roman Catholic faith. It took 1496 years for there to be another schism for the Roman Catholic Church. Catholicism fracturing again this time under the teaching of Martin Luther who was a German Roman Catholic priest that became disgusted with the practices of Rome. Subsequently there followed many other schisms and fractures from Catholicism within Protestantism following in its breakaway from the Roman Catholic Church.

Soon after the Lutheran church experienced the same schisms within the confines of its faith and by referring back to the chronological chart above we can see some of the major denominational fractures that followed within Protestantism.

The first recognized religious organization to splinter from within Protestantism in the U.S. was the Church of the Latter Day Saints in 1830. Pentecostalism did not follow for another seventy years and before this time as well as after there where many other fractures within the Protestant denominations. Pentecostalism is a relative latecomer on the scene as far as being a recognized religious denomination.

Excluding Catholicism’s fundamental split from the apostolic church in Judea and with the understandings of the denominational schisms within Christianity the Pentecostal church is but one of the most recent. This occurred in 1900 however Pentecostalism did not become accepted as a mainstream denomination by large groups of people until the late 1950s and early 1960’s. However, the departure from the undiluted truth of the apostolic teachings began early and in earnest with Rome beginning with the council of Nicaea at the behest of Constantine the emperor of Rome in 324 AD. The Bishop of England of England was given the choice to become the Archbishop of the Anglican church of England with the King as head of the church or have his head cut off. Let’s say he kept his head and was royally rewarded for doing so.

With this schism the beginnings of the fracture of the truth that started with Constantine started to splinter into even more denominations. To comment on the sucking sound of the lose of freedom that was caused by this vacuuming up of the eclectic plethora of ideas is what caused first the dark ages and then one of the bloodiest civil wars in England. Millions of people where caught up in these relgio-politcal shifts. This consolidation or ecumenism effectively destroyed freedom from any departure from the powers that be. Skin in the Game

MediCARD1 a money making idea
Accountable Care Organization (ACO) is essential in the new electronic health care delivery models. Providers are assuming greater levels of financial risk for managing the care they provide to their covered populations. In this evolving environment providers must master a whole new set of competencies to remain competitive and successful. ACO is the name of the game in the electronic healthcare environment for the 21st century. Health care providers can reduce their legal liability by outsourcing their EMR to a company that is an accredited ACO.

However the Achilles heel of ACO is patient involvement. Some dismiss personal health care records (PHR) as viable to health information technologies (HIT) within an ACO. Without the consumer having a vested interest in a PHR the whole concept of an effective HIT is wishful thinking. In other words as a consumer how is this going to be a benefit for me? With private health insurance companies as well as Medicare there is no risk reward for the patient to even begin participate in the HIT process in any significant numbers. But if they where able to save $20 to $30 on monthly premiums the consumer would have some skin in the game. This would give them a vested interest in participating in the PHR side of HIT.

On the other side of the coin providers have no skin in the game when it comes to the PHR side of HIT. The only real reason that they are participating in HIT at all is because it is government mandated. Whereas this mandate stands for the provider there is no such mandate for the patient. In order to have providers incorporate any PHR within their already mandated government EMR’s they must be able to participate with some financial compensation for doing so. This puts some skin in the game for them. MediCARD1 has come up with a solution that addresses both issues and secures financial benefits for both the customer as well as the provider so both will have some skin in the game.

With the MediCARD1 systems ACO HIT services a private practice provider could potentially earn $5000 to $10,000/month extra income with their EMR while maintaining the highest ACO integrity. For health care facilities such as hospitals, rehabilitation centers, urgent care centers where the volume of patients is normally much higher than an individual practice the potential to earn as much as $10,000 to $500,000/month is well within the scope of that practice.

For those interested in finding out more about how to get into some of these earnings or for those wanting to invest in MediCARD1, Inc. email me at rmccarter1@cox.net

Silence I kill you!

Rome unified its diverse empire through allegiance to the emperor. When the multiple beliefs of the empire begin to cause fractions within the empire Constantine unified them through a singular belief not only in the emperor but in religion too. This gave him complete control of Rome not only as the emperor but as the head of the one true so called faith. This was a stroke of genus on his part because he then was the head of the faith as well as the politic of Rome. Today society is reaching for the same unity but employing the impetus from the opposite end of the political spectrum that Constantine had employed and it is the stroke of genus for the party politic of our time. The new unification of the twenty first century is being applied to society by embracing the belief that all ideas and religions and politics hold equality of value. Through the auspices of diversification political powers are forming a powerful unification in today's society by causing a singular value to be placed on the diversification of beliefs regardless of the majority the minority or anything in between. Divaricating is the new unity. This societal subconsciously growing commission that the equality of values is becoming more accepted and concrete as the divergent masses of spiritual and political values become more  interlaced within the mass of society will cause a singularity of the consciousness of society. When exposed to the extreme wind of economic and political instability this concept will not be a well fitted structure for survival it will only increase finger pointing and animosity. There may be a genuine attempt at cohabitation for a while but when exposed to some horrific economic or political situation this idea will only cause greater instability. We are being told, taught and informed that we must embrace diversification of gender, race, beliefs, faiths, religions and ideas equally. This equality of diversification is a thin veil hiding a socially and insidiously evil force with the auspicious of doing good through the unification of political and religious divergence. This is being propagated in order to break down barriers that have held civilized peoples together for century's. Once this unified power is embraced by the masses it will in a single moment control all of the people with an iron fist. It is a political stroke of genus in this time. The idea of embracing the equality of value among the diverse religions and politics is indeed the unifying force in the social landscape of the world at this time. This new social unity is unfolding before us and it remains to be seen what the final ramifications will be. But for now this is what most people in the world are beginning to embrace including many Muslims. World unification under the guise of equality for all diverse ideas and beliefs holding not one above the other but holding all ideas and beliefs as of equal value even if we disagree is the most propagated idea of this generation. This is the new ideology that is being pumped into societies in the world today. There may be a short period where this will work well for a time. However it is like putting a bunch of snakes in a paper bag and hoping that even though they are all vipers of many different stripes that they will remain indifferent to each other forever. It is my prediction that they will not long tolerate each other and that thin veil of unity formed by embracing the equality of diversification will become a torturous environment for all. It can not last and it will not end well for any who embrace it. Embracing diversity creates unity especially when it is the preeminent paradigm. Rome eliminated diversity to create unity. The new social paradigm is embracing diversity to create unity. The salient is not how unity is created but that it is created.

Privacy and Security: Is it achieved under HIPAA 5010?

Veiling my phytogenetics I hope it works!
It is the responsibility of health care providers to keep patients' personal health records confidential and private. If a patients confidential health information is breached it can mean big trouble lawsuits, fines, degradation of trust and etc. for health care providers. Under HIPAA 5010, a covered entity can in fact disclose a patient’s entire medical record. There are all kinds of exceptions and broad definitions under the disclosure rules. When patients discover who has been given their private information they are going to be horrified about who has seen it and who is requesting it. This is going to be all the more startling when genomic data becomes incorporated into therapies and is available via the patient record. It is vitally important that people understand that the privacy rule requirements do not apply to information that has been de-identified. The ramifications of this are of momentous significance now and into the future. Do you really want strangers to get their hands on your personal data and be rooting around in in your most personal health information? Is there anything that can be done to protect your privacy? I want to know what you think. So be sure to leave a comment in the comment section of my blog.

There is no public or government outcry for the privacy rights of the patient with this move into the world of electronic health information technologies, (HIT). The fact of the matter is that there is no public discourse on how the clients of health the care system are being treated in this rush to HIT. The government has discounted the public while forcing an adherence to electronic media on health care providers without a thought as to how this will affect the most important person in this shift to electronics and that is the patient. Patients have no idea what is being done with their most private personal healthcare records PHR.  Physicians give little thought or concern to patient privacy as the government is the author of the new HIPPA 5010 policies. There is little to no consideration given by anyone to the choice of the individual patient as to how or where their records are stored or used.

What most people don’t know is that their most personal health information is being bartered and sold in public domain to the highest bidder without their knowledge or consent. The federal government has passed new regulations for HIPPA that declare your personal health care records can be compiled in lists and sold in clearing houses to the highest bidder for purposes of research. Are you getting that warm fuzzy feeling yet? This is being done in order to control the costs of pushing the health care providers into electronic media. How you may ask?  Well let me enlighten you. I will paint this in broad strokes but the threat to your privacy is by no means to be diminished. It is your privacy that is at stake. I don’t know how you feel about your personal health care records but mine are extensive I can see the pitchmen drooling over them right now.

The government in order to break the iron clad federal HIPPA laws have made changes to the HIPPA regulations in order to make a loophole in your right to control your personal health care records. In the first attempt by the government to control dissemination of your personal health care records there was an outcry among federal employees about privacy concerns as the government wanted to de-identify all federally insured workers medical records with the 4010A1 HIPPA law. This law meant that their medical records could be exported to clearing houses for research. The Fed’s halted implementation of 4010A1 which outlined eight steps required for de-indentifying personal health care records. They went back and reassessed the concerns of the employees and came up with new de-identification guidelines with HIPPA 5010 which outlined eighteen guidelines for de-identification of your personal health care records. However, the new guidelines do not guarantee that your personal health care records will remain 100% private.

The conclusion of a study done by John Hopkins Medical Institution was that “a major flaw in the current de-identification models is their failure to prevent re-identification by inference.”  The “Godelization of pathology database: re-identification by inference” is a mathematical equation that calculates the probability of your personal health care records being re-identified. This study demonstrated that a patient’s medical records are not 100% secure under the HIPPA 5010 guidelines.

The problem for both patients and health care providers in today’s world of electronic information are costs, privacy, transparency and control. The reality is that not only do health care providers have to come to terms with the new reality of electronic charting and record keeping but the patients as well need to evolve into using this new media. Patients should not be surprised to learn what happens to their health information. If patients would be surprised doctors better get their consent. Transparency by providers goes a long way to enable consent. There are also trigger events that would indicate the need for “meaningful” consent from a consumer, such as a third party or some exchanges that collect and combine information in a database for use by others. Consumers should be able to understand how their information is used. While on the health care provider side of this equation the costs have diminished there is no process in place for the patient to have equal control of their PHR.

In the next blog I will discuss privacy choices for your personal health care information. What can you stop and what can’t you stop?

Arrested velociped processes

What are the odds  he'll win?
Being a contract nurse working in the Phoenix Metro area for almost 20 years I have been in every electronic medical record, EMR system in the valley including state, federal and private hospitals and clinics. The focus needs to be on integrating the electronic medical record (EMR), and personal health records (PHR), of the health information technologies of (HIT) systems to function in tandem. Each arm of the HIT system i.e. EMR and PHR must be used as applied by design and integrated into the overall structures and functions of HIT in order to unify and streamline overall capabilities. Focusing only on the providers’ access to HIT is like the mouth trying to feed the hand. In most cases if not all cases that I have seen the issue is the cart has been placed before the horse. The patient is ultimately the one being served. HIT needs to reach out to those who are ultimately driving the economic vehicle for the industry, "the patient." Without patient involvement there is no economy to drive health care services including EMR systems. The best design application will integrate the PHR and the EMR into a singular concept. The concept of HIT will only reach its full potential when the integration and synchronization of the EMR and PHR arms of HIT is achieved under the HIT umbrella. Health care providers and their patients will continue to get wet under the rain of this technology until this integration is applied. The concept of HIT will never be fully actualized until the patient is brought into the mix as an active participant in creating solutions to the problems health care providers face in today’s EMR systems. As it is now it’s like a one legged man trying to run a relay race using crutches. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. In my next blog I will show health care providers how to make money with their EMR and how individuals can keep their health care private in a rapidly changing health care information landscape. So stay tuned.

HIPAA 5010: “You can’t sit back and wait"

In this country there is no privacy protection allowed.
HIPAA 5010 is a federally mandated electronic transaction standard requirement for the healthcare industry that must be completely implemented by January 1, 2012. I have been a registered nurse for 17 years and I have started a blog about the government and the alarming fact that you and your families personal privacy is at risk. The new HIPAA 5010 law that passed this year sets legal standards for the confiscation and de-identification of yours and your families’ personal electronic health care records. There is now no legal reason for permission to be obtained from you in order for your personal health care records to be confiscated and distributed to clearinghouses for de-identification and used for research. Most health care providers do not know this and certainly most U.S. citizens are not aware of this. Follow my blog and learn how to take control and keep the government and other private agencies from accessing your private health information. Don't turn red when you get caboosed!

ANSI 5010 is the new version of the federal HIPAA transaction standards that regulates the electronic transmission of your personal health care records. The new 5010 standards will replace the existing 4010/4010A1 version of HIPAA. The new standards make the ability to mine electronic data much easier. The secondary use of data under the new HIPAA 5010 de-identification rules raises several ethical considerations, with privacy being at the top of the list. The new HIPPA law sets standards for the de-identification of personal health care records in a way that there is no legal reason for permission to be obtained from the patient. This fact should alarm everyone. As health care providers and institutions race to meet federally mandated dates for implementation of electronic medical records most of them do not know that this will eliminate the absolute security and privacy of their patient’s most sensitive health issues.

There are numerous computer science studies that have been able to tie "unidentifiable data" back to individuals. Personal health information under the new HIPAA 5010 law is unique enough to eliminate only 87% of the U.S. population. Couple that with drill down to other public record data sources personal health records where easily and readily tied back to the individual. In one study conducted in the late 1990s by Latanya Sweeny, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon University was able to pin unidentified health information back to William Weld the governor of Massachusetts. The fact is that there is a huge market for identifiable data.

A similar study was conducted by two University of Texas at Austin scientist in relation to deidentified information and it was determined that this information could in fact be reidentified. The study was discontinued after reaching an agreement with Federal Trade Commission investigators. Now if that doesn't send chills down your spine I don't know what will. The unauthorized release of personal health care information is a very big and very real risk under the new HIPAA 5010 deidentification guidelines. The key question is who determines accessibility and who makes the decision for what this information will be used for?

With this new law any private or government agency can obtain your personal health care records without your knowledge or consent. Most of the agencies that obtain personal health care records state that they are using them for research. However research is not defined under HIPAA 5010. Most of this so called "research" is compiled into lists by unscrupulous and exploitative corporations. These lists containing your personal health care records are then sold to the highest bidder for thousands of dollars. The trend is that the majority of the companies that buy these lists are marketing and sales corporations. They use the information gleaned from your records to target groups with specific advertising schemes. This is how these unscrupulous companies define research. This is what is being done in order to control the costs of pushing health care providers into electronic media. Are you getting that warm fuzzy feeling yet? I don't know how you feel about your personal health care records but mine are extensive I can see the pitchmen drooling over them right now. I don't want anyone looking at my personal health care records for any reason without my consent or permission. I wonder, how would you feel if you new that your most private health issues where put up for auction?

Listen closely

Listen closely to what Ron Paul states has already happened about individual privacy concerning your health care records. It's short but its there and its a done deal passed into law by congress and in force to date.

The fearful diminish opportunity for vision

Think outside the box.http://medicard1.com
My goal is to capture the entire world with my vision. I ask myself how did the Wright brothers feel when every person in the world said man will never be able to fly when they where trying to bring their vision to life. Man would have never landed on the moon if their vision, their spirit, had been crushed by the myopia of those who only see the impossibilities. It is a sad thing for any person to limit their vision for fear of stepping into the impossible of most others. This fear limits the faith for vision in those not brave enough to step out and commit themselves to the eternal supply of possibilities that are abundant in the imaginations of brave individuals.

A message for those who live in the spirit?

The spirit like arches reaching to heaven inspire!
This entry is a departure from the main emphasis of this blog. I have been doing a lot of reaching out and have found that many of you, especially those in health care related fields, have a strong spiritual focus to your lives. So, I wanted to reach out and touch you with the understanding that I have gained as I have traveled this path called life. I hope you enjoy this if you would like to discover more of my writings on this subject please let me know and I will retrieve writings from the archive of my spiritual diary for your reading.

One does not need to follow anyone else’s personal doctrines or beliefs to find the truth. It just takes some serious critical thinking. The first question anyone should ask is why. This will set the path before us for the beginning of our journey in the acquisition of acquiring truth and knowledge. It is possible to find the truth by searching for the questions that are fond in our minds and unlocking the answer by thinking as objectively as possible.
If a person finds something that they believe to be true is in fact true that knowledge can be polished with the brilliance of wisdom. However, it is hard for most people to strip their minds naked from the presuppositions and influences that are all around us. Ask honest questions.
Many times these are hardest to ask and sometimes even harder to answer. Finding the answers to these questions is the key that unlocks the power that will deliver one from ignorance. Many times the answers can be found in nature or relationships with the experiences found in everyday life all around us. Listening needs to be fine tuned. An ability to focus at the infinite atomic level as well as the infinite universal level is critical in acquiring understanding. In other words, the ability to see the minutest details as well as the big picture with whatever content that lies in between. Then it may be understood that the infinitely small and the infinitely large are not different but the same.
In our world at this time there are forces at every level, spiritual and physical, creating or annihilating. Make of it what you will but denying it is foolishness. The physical and the spiritual, the mind and the body, are united as one by a bond that is stronger than any that can be explained or demonstrated by science. The psychics of this bond are unknowable, inseparable and universal.
When the physical expires the spiritual is the prize to be had. To put it bluntly and plainly is that the spirit is the life force. The spirit and the life source they are synonymous, one and the same. To focus on the physical without the awareness of the spiritual is an ignorance that will be the cause for the destruction of both the soul and body. Without this understanding both will perish forever. For the soul within us can only exist with and by the marriage of the spirit with the flesh. Because of this reality it is essential to understand the relationship of the body, spirit and soul in order to preserve the life and the mind beyond the dust of the grave. This makes it imperative to find and understand the value of the spirit in order to survive the emanate separation of the spirit from the physical body.
Knowledge and understanding is only possible in the unification of the spirit with the flesh. Life is in the spirit. It activates the body and the mind. The body without the spirit does not have life within it. Without the spirit the body is void of life. There can be no consciousness, awareness, intellect, mental facilities or functions in process. There can be no mind without the unification of the spirit with the body.
If the mind is focused on the flesh the mind will neglect the things of the spirit. Then there will be nothing of the mind except that it will cling only to what it knows and that is the flesh. It will perish with the flesh because that is the only life the mind knows or ever has known. The soul will cling to the flesh because of the fear of the loss of the only life the mind has ever known or experienced. With the lack of the knowledge of the spirit the mind will be in darkness and not able to see that the spirit is offering the soul a place of refuge from the grave. In this condition the soul will not be able to set itself free from the flesh. It will be dragged kicking and screaming into the grave along with the body forever.
It is better to find our life in the spirit and focus on that life so when the time comes for the flesh to fall into the ground from which it came, the mind will release itself from the entanglements of the flesh without fear and be set free from it to join the new life of the spirit.  The flesh is corrupted. In everyday terms we should understand that we, all of us in humanity are terminally ill.
When these urges are fulfilled it deadens the mind to the presence of the spirit. This is what is typically known as the mind of the flesh.
It is the mind that becomes perverted with these natural urges and desires of the flesh. The proper order of life is that the spirit controls the mind and thus the mind controls the flesh. However these principles are no longer in their proper order. The idea that any person is able to control all the urgings of the flesh without the proper order of spiritual physics is erroneous. The fact is that there are forces at work in our world that are striving to keep humanity in ignorance of these truths. For the most part humanity is unaware of this and therefore people perish for the lack of knowledge. The question that must be asked is why this is happening and who or what is doing this to us and for what purpose.
But as a very wise man once said; I do not the things that I want to do and I do the things that I want to do not. If you find yourself involved in this struggle do not fear you find yourself in good company. For if you did not have this struggle within your mind and body you would perish never knowing the difference and with no hope of immortality. It is this struggle that gives us an assurance that the spirit is working in our soul. It seeks to separate us from the flesh in order to preserve our souls for eternity. For if one clings to the flesh then your essence, your soul, the thing that makes you, “you”, will perish along with it. As long as we live we posses the most valuable thing that there is in the universe or ever will be now and forever. That thing is eternal possession of the spirit and our souls in new spiritual bodies’ not fleshly ones. We will be in form in the similitude of angels.
Now before I go any further I am absolutely not advocating that anyone go live in a cave somewhere or become monk or a priest or fast until they die or light themselves on fire. Life is the most valuable thing that has ever been bestowed upon a person. It is not something to be denigrated or snuffed out it is something to be valued above all other things. As long as you posses it you are rich beyond your wildest dreams and that is something of which we should always be aware. For the end of the matter is that this is after all what all men and women are striving for above all other things.
How we manipulate our life is up to us. Do we what we will however we will but, let us remember that no person truly is an island unto himself. We have friends, relatives, neighbors and like a pebble dropped in the water so our lives’ create eternal ripples in the water of life. Go get a handful of pebbles and toss them in to a calm pond and see what the effect is. This letter is my pebble; another person may use other means that may cause ripples in the water of life. But the essential and most important wave in this water is the ripple of truth for with it we drown or save ourselves and others.
We are all each a pebble in the palm of life. So we should always strive to treat others the way we would want to be treated. Every ripple in the waters of our lives affects us as well as others around us either causing benefit or harm. Be kind, patient, loving, generous, and make our life, our personality a rose in the garden of life not a thorn to prick and grieve others.
Whatever we believe to be right, follow that without the arrogance of thinking that we can never be wrong. As we grow, as we live, we will see knowledge and wisdom unfold to us over time and sometimes a light will go on and we will know that what we once thought or believed may not be so. But, until one finds that they are wrong they must hold their position and believe in themselves. We must be patient with others.
In those times when we find that our strongly held belief or idea was wrong and, if we live long enough we will have this experience in our life. We must remember that the hat we may have to eat may be as big as the ripple we make. That may be a meal that is eaten that was is bigger than anticipated or wanted.
May we all be patient and diligent and let not any outside influences or fear cloud our judgment. May we see clearly and move boldly in regard to the truths that we find. That is my prayer for me and for all of my brothers and sisters.

How health care works in Canada

Check this out a real live demonstration of socialized health care, is this what we want in the USA. Government controlled health care is more expensive than privately run health care. Government run health care makes the schism between the rich and the poor even wider as is demonstrated with the actual events in this video.

The Genisis of MediCARD1

The genesis of MediCARD1, Inc. was being formulated in my mind for many years. I have worked within the healthcare field for 17 years as a registered nurse. I was working as a registered nurse before there where any computers in the hospital. I remember thinking at that time how much easier things would be when computers finally made it into the hospitals and was eagerly anticipating this event as where many others in the healthcare community. With the advent of computers into the hospitals the transition from paper to computers did not shift as smoothly as was anticipated and there was a large learning curve especially for the older nurses and doctors. The hoped for ease of communications did not materialize and the advent of the computer in reality created a whole new set of problems. Today all the nurses that can remember the time before computer charting and filing get a little nostalgic for the old days of paper. There where no screens no key boards. Everything was in the paper chart and all you had to do was carry a pen. Yet as nostalgic as I get for the old days of nursing I knew then as I know now that computers are here to stay. I couldn't help but wonder why as more and more computers became integrated into the healthcare system why was it still so difficult to get information.

I would admit patients to the hospital and the first order of business is what I refer to as the game of 90 questions. Here I am with a computer in front of me as I take the patients information and ask when the last time was that you where in the hospital. Did you have your tetanus shot and if yes when? Have you have your flu shot and if yes then when? Have you had any surgeries and if yes what kind when and where? Do you have any allergies and what are they? Do you take any medications? How many and what for? Who's your next of kin and do they have power of attorney? Who's your insurance company? What's your address and phone number? Who is your primary health care provider? Do you have any metal in your body? Do have COPD or hypertension and if so what kind of medication are you taking and how much? What's your birthday? Are you diabetic and do you take insulin and if you do what kind and how much? I get about half way through the 90 questions and typically what happens is the patient says "I was just in the hospital" or "they just asked me all those questions in the emergency room don't you have it on your computer?" The answer for me is "well no in fact I do not." Then the doctor goes into see the patient and asks the same questions over again. Then the first thing the doctor asks the nurse is did you get a list of their medications and the answer more often than not is no. At this point the patient the nurse and the doctor are so frustrated that the tension in the air is thick. Now repeat this scenario time after time day after day and you can begin to understand why there is a shortage of nurses and doctors and now as if that where not enough lets throw in the fear of litigation just for fun. This is why the term burn out is used for the high rate of nurses and doctors leaving their practice. All because nobody can or will communicate with each other. The thought that kept coming at me was, come on people we have computers. Everyone else in the world is communicating with each other why isn't the medical community linked to this resource. This is just one of the information games played in the health care system.

There are several other such quagmires that are encountered with or I should say without healthcare information. The patient can't sign consent because they are not mentally capable or the patient is unconscious and can not sign consent for the surgery that they need and there is no next of kin or medical power of attorney (MPOA) available to sign for the patient. What do we do now resituate or not? Will I get sued if I do or will I get sued if I don't? Another barrier that causes a weak link in healthcare communications is the form authorizing providers to receive reports from other healthcare providers and facilities. Once and if you can get the form signed it must be sent to the facility that has the needed report or image. When the consent is signed the first barrier to treatment is down. At this point the consent is faxed and you have overcome the second barrier. Now barrier three someone at the receiving facility needs to find the fax. Then if and when they find the fax they have to locate the requested information and then hopefully they send it back ASAP. Then hopefully a person is looking and waiting for the fax to return so that the doctor can then read the report and make a decision on how to treat the patient. By this time the doctors fear of litigation forces him to repeat a test or procedure because he can not reasonably wait any longer before treating the patient. Thus duplication is created costing insurance companies and government agencies millions if not billions of dollars.

Not only is computer communication fragmented at the national level it is fragmented as well within each of the many medical facilities. There is no communication between doctors' offices and hospitals, or between hospital to hospital, pharmacy to doctor to physical therapy facilities to clinic, or clinic to hospital to insurance companies and etc. The medical community is ten to fifteen years behind the rest of the world. They need to catch up and catch up fast. This lack of communication is crippling healthcare and contributing in a large degree to the high costs of healthcare. I begin thinking that there has got to be a way to implement the ideal that was anticipated with the integration of the computer into the healthcare field. The fragmented system of communications after the installation of computers has not been effective in creating the smooth and integrated flow of information that it should have after their introduction into the hospitals. Paper consents are still filled out and signed and then faxed. Information is still difficult to obtain at best whether it is from the patient or by any other means. The communications environment of healthcare is still using many of the means it has employed since the nineteenth century. This antiquated system of communication can no longer keep pace with the needs of a twenty first century society. This breakdown in the communication process and the frustration it causes for healthcare workers and patients not to mention the wasted dollars is what inspired me to come up with the idea of MediCARD1, Inc. With the MediCARD1/VISA card consent is implied.

When the owner of the MediCARD1/VISA card gives their card to the health care provider in order to access their patients MediCARD1 PHR account on the MediCARD1 website consent is implied. This is secondary to the fact that the patient had to give his/her MediCARD1/VISA card to the provider in order for the provider to activate the account and access the patients PHR. This is done in the same way a someone would use a bank card at the bank or ATM with exactly the same security measures built into the card. With out the card and the pin number there is no possible way to access the account. This system is also used at the point of contact for the payment due at that time of service. This in conjunction with the HSA service provided for the client assures that all co-payments can and will be rendered at the time of service. Health insurance companies as well as government agencies such as Medicaid and Medicare can have the ability with the co-branded MediCARD1/VISA card to make payment at time of service without any additional steps other than to load the card with the patients covered amount. With the MediCARD1/VISA card the transaction is automated electronically and recorded immediately at the point of contact. This record is easily accessed by the agency, patient and or provider via the electronically automated MediCARD1/VISA processes. This process eliminates much of the back office billing with electronically automated billing codes at the point of service. This process reduces's the overall costs associated with the billing process and saves money for the government agencies as well as raise the income levels of health care providers that participate in this process. The health care provider will pull down a menu of billing codes from off of the web site and simply click on the appropriate code for the service provided. This transaction will automatically be recorded accounted and deducted at the point of service removing the back office processes. This in essence is a direct and singular activity that is actuated by the health care provider with instantaneous billing and payment as a result of the feature built into the system. This system will virtually eliminate the need for the back office entirely. This as well as the electronic audio recognition system built into the the system will replace financial burden of the dictationist from the providers services which will add another benefit raising the bottom line for health care providers. This service can be applied to physicians, nurses, therapist and any other health care provider that needs to record or chart notes.

In a future blog I will tell health providers how to make money with their EMR.
